Network

Wish to learn more about geographic information and technology and what it can do for you? Want to shape statewide geospatial policies and initiatives? Interested in statewide geospatial collaboration and cooperation? Then join the geospatial community stakeholder Network! Network membership is free and open to all those who are interested. If you’d like to join the Network, please register here.

Network Forum and Listserve

Want to communicate with geospatial community members from across the State on topics that are of interest to you? Want to raise important geospatial coordination issues that need statewide attention? Then start a conversation online through the Network Forum or Network email listserve. All are welcome to participate. All you need to do is register as a Network member, sign up for the Network Listserv, and join the discussions on the Network Forum.
Do you have a burning issue that you'd like to see addressed by the Council? Would you like to improve coordination of geospatial activities in your part of the state? Are you interested in a specific domain, like emergency management, transporation, land use planning, or something else? Would you like to network with others in your sector? Then join or start a "community of practice" within the Network! Stakeholder are encouraged to organize into formal or informal “communities of practice” in order to more clearly identify activities and issues for the Council’s consideration. For a list of current WIGICC COPs, look here.

Meetings and Events

The Council meets at least quarterly. Meetings are open to all Network members. Network, Communities of Practice, and Council committees meet throughout the year. For information about upcoming meetings and events, look here.

Interim Council

The interim Wisconsin Geographic Information Coordination Council (WIGICC) is comprised of 15-members, including representatives from local, county, state, and federal governments, regional planning commissions, colleges and universities, non-profits, and the private sector, as well as a Tribal liaison. The Wisconsin State Cartographer and Wisconsin Geographic Information Officer serve as ex-officio, non-voting members on the Council. In the spring of 2008, the WIGICC Working Group conducted a nomination and election process, in coordination with organizations representing each of the functional sectors, to select the members of the Interim Council. Interim Council members serve a two year term through 2010, after which nominations for new members will be solicited on a rotating basis.

WIGICC is a member driven organization that relies on the support of its membership to accomplish its mission and objectives. Even if you are not a member of the Council, WIGICC needs your support and participation through its Network, committees, and communities of practice. For more information about the Council, look here.

WIGICC’s operations and strategic objectives are addressed by Committees and ad hoc working groups. To view the list of Council committees and working groups, look here. If you wish to become a member of a specific committee, then contact the respective committee chair.  If you see areas in need of focus that are not listed, please contact the Council Chair.
